Term 2011-2012

I have lived here in the Seminole / Holland neighborhood since moving here in 1973 from St. Charles. I graduated from Parkview High School in 1975 and did a stint in the US Navy for 4 years. After that, I earned a Associates of Science degree from SMS University, and work for City Utilities of Springfield. I am married to Karen, and we have a 17 year old disabled daughter that requires a lot of our care and attention.
I hope to enhance life in our neighborhood by giving back as I can, and I am proud to be a founding board member of this newly formed organization. My hope is to serve this association well and to help in any capacity that I can.

I am a near lifelong resident of the Ozarks since moving from St Louis as a young child. I was invited to be a part of the Association because I own and operate Youth of the Ozark Thrift Store, a business on the western edge of this neighborhood. My store gives back a portion of our proceeds each quarter to The Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield, The Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of the Heartland. I believe deeply in community service and as a business member hope to encourage more businesses in the neighborhood to get involved. I hope to someday live as well in the neighborhood because of its mature trees and excellent neighbors!"

Bruce Helm
Term 2010-2011

Bruce Helm is a native of Springfield, and has lived in the boundaries of the neighborhood since 1990. He is a freelance graphic designer and illustrator, and calls his one-person company Helm Graphics.
Bruce designs logos, brochures, magazine, catalogs, books, posters, ads, outdoor boards -- basically anything that prints. He joined SHNA because he is concerned about the area in which he lives.

I moved to Springfield around 1990, I have traveled to several states, but found this one to be the most pleasant to live and work. I have lived in the Seminole/Holland neighborhood since I started working at St. John's 15 years ago and have found this to be the most convenient, friendliest and outstanding neighborhoods. I am married and have 5 kids one of which still lives at home, this is a great family neighborhood.
I attend Southminster Presbyterian Church, and my youngest son goes to Holland School. I look forward in helping with the association for the next 2 years.
